The 3 d Ising model represented as random surfaces
We consider a random surface representation of the three-dimensional Ising model. The model exhibit scaling behaviour and a new critical index κ which relates γ string for the bosonic string to the exponent α of the specific heat of the 3d Ising model is introduced. We try to determine κ by numerical simulations.
متن کاملRandom Field Ising Model
This paper gives an introduction to the Random Field Ising Model (RFIM). Since its rst discussion in the paper by Imry and Ma 1] there has been great interest in this model, since Ising or Ising-like systems in random elds are a good representation of a large number of impure materials. These show features that can not be understood by studying ideal systems (i.e. Ising model). There are a lot ...
متن کاملChange from 3D-Ising to random field-Ising-model criticality in a uniaxial relaxor ferroelectric.
Pyroelectric measurements of polarization have been used to determine the temperature dependence of the polarization in strontium barium niobate, SBN:Ce, close to its phase transition temperature T(c) approximately 317 K. A gradual increase of the critical exponent from beta approximately 0.13 to beta approximately 0.30 is observed when decreasing the initial polarization from 100% to 0.8% of t...
متن کاملDiscrete Riemann Surfaces and the Ising model
We define a new theory of discrete Riemann surfaces and present its basic results. The key idea is to consider not only a cellular decomposition of a surface, but the union with its dual. Discrete holomorphy is defined by a straightforward discretisation of the Cauchy-Riemann equation. A lot of classical results in Riemann theory have a discrete counterpart, Hodge star, harmonicity, Hodge theor...
متن کاملTheory of the Random Field Ising Model
A review is given on some recent developments in the theory of the Ising model in a random field. This model is a good representation of a large number of impure materials. After a short repetition of earlier arguments, which prove the absence of ferromagnetic order in d ≤ 2 space dimensions for uncorrelated random fields, we consider different random field correlations and in particular the ge...
